Briefing by Russian Defence Ministry spokesperson Major General Igor Konashenkov (March 2, 2022, 10:30 a.m.)
▪️ The grouping of troops of Lugansk People’s Republic, with fire support from the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, continuing successful offensive operations, and took control over Starobelsk and Svatovo settlements. Since the beginning of the special military operation, the depth of advance has been 75 kilometers.
The grouping of troops of Donetsk People’s Republic, having expanded the offensive zone, took control over Kalinovka, Lebedinskoe, Pionerskoe, Karla Marx, Nikolaevka and Osipenko settlements. Progress since the beginning of the operation amounted to 58 kilometers.
▪️ The units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation established control over Tokmak and Vasylievka settlements, where Ukrainian servicemen refused to resist and voluntarily laid down their arms. After they sign receipts refusing to participate in hostilities, the Ukrainian servicemen will return to their families.
Russian Armed Forces took Kherson regional centre under full control.
Civil infrastructure, life support facilities for the population and urban transport operate on a daily basis.
The city does not experience shortages in food and essential goods. Negotiations are ongoing between the Russian command, the administration of the city and the region to address issues of maintaining the functioning of social infrastructure facilities, ensuring law and order and the safety of the population.

▪️ In total, since the beginning of the operation, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have hit 1,502 objects of the military infrastructure of Ukraine.
💥 Among them: 51 command posts and communication centres of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 38 S-300, Buk M-1 and Osa anti-aircraft missile systems, 51 radar stations.
47 aircraft on the ground and 11 aircraft in the air, 472 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 62 multiple rocket launch systems, 206 field artillery pieces and mortars, 336 units of special military vehicles, 46 unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed.

The seventh day of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people to the russian invasion continues.
In Volyn, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have created a reliable defense system. The nature of the enemy’s actions, which is demonstrating along the Ukrainian border, is constantly being monitored.
In the coastal direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to conduct a defensive operation, successfully deterring the overwhelming forces of the enemy. Our divisions neutralized the landing party which tried to land near the city of Mykolayiv.
Cases of surrender of groups of russian soldiers and officers, as well as refusals to continue the offensive, continue.
The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine repels attacks from the air. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the enemy has fired more than 180 missiles. In addition to military facilities, civilian infrastructure and residential areas were severely damaged.
Russian occupying forces violate the norms of international humanitarian law by looting and killing local people, including children. The morale of the occupying army is extremely low.
During the current day, up to thirty fighter jets violated the airspace of Ukraine, mostly from the Republic of Belarus, and bombed the civilian population.
Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated Makariv, Kyiv oblast, and positioned themselves in the city.
Certain forces and means are defending the city of Kyiv, continue to conduct systematic hostilities and hold certain areas.
The enemy is demoralized and continues to suffer losses in personnel and military equipment!

Operational information on 12.00, 02.03.2022 regarding the Russian invasion
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are beginning to seize the initiative of the russian occupiers in some areas. The enemy is trying to keep the fighting capacity of their units, realizing that the “easy walk” did not work. It is trying to avoid direct clashes not only with the Ukrainian army but also with civilians blocking the movement of his columns. Russian propaganda ceases to operate in Ukraine and the “liberators” realize that no one was waiting for them here.
In the Volyn direction, the enemy has lost the initiative and is not taking active action.
In the Polissya direction, the russian occupiers continue to advance in the direction of Makariv – Brusyliv – Fastiv and part of the forces – to Kyiv.
On the routes to Malyn and Irpin they lost the offensive pace, suffered significant losses and stopped at unfavorable borders.
In the Chernobyl direction, the enemy tried to develop an offensive in the direction of Demidiv and Irpin, but also lost the offensive potential, stopped.
In the Zhytomyr region, it is trying to deploy advanced units in the areas of the settlements of Horenychy, Shpytky, and Petrushky.
At the same time, the enemy is deploying field and logistics camps in the areas of Borodyanka, Katyuzhanka, and Gavronshchyna.
In the Siversky direction, the enemy of the 1st Panzer Army and the 20th All-Army of the Russian Armed Forces, which launched offensive operations in the direction of Krasnograd and Izyum to create conditions for the encirclement of the Joint Forces, suffered losses and was stopped at the borders of Bohodukhiv, Chuguiv and Shevchenkove.
The enemy is stopped in the Chernihiv direction.
In the Nizhyn direction – moved in the direction of Nova Basan, Kozelets.
In the Donetsk direction, the enemy focused its efforts with the 1st, 2nd Army corps, and 8th army on reaching the administrative borders of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. It didn’t reach the goal, he couldn’t block Mariupol.
In the south, the enemy tried to continue the offensive in the direction of Zaporozhye, part of the forces – in Mariupol.
In the Black Sea Operational Zone, the russian occupiers continue preparations for a naval landing operation on the Black Sea coast of Ukraine (Zatoka, Odesa oblast). The deployment of naval fleet groups on the high seas was noted.
The enemy is demoralized and continues to suffer losses in personnel and equipment.

Operational information as of 06.00 on 02.03.2022 regarding the Russian invasion
The seventh day of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people to the russian invasion continues.
In the Podilsk direction, the enemy is trying to continue the offensive along the border of Horenychi, Hostomel, Demidiv in the direction of KYIV in order to block the capital from the northern and north-western directions.
In the Zhytomyr region there are up to three BTGs from the 5th Combined Arms Army of the Eastern Military District of the armed forces of russian federation.
In the northern direction, up to seventeen BTGs of the occupying forces, despite the loss of manpower and equipment, continue offensive operations to block Kyiv from the northeast. The invaders were stopped in the areas of Kozelets, Bobrovytsia, and Makiiv. In the other direction, in the areas of the settlements Svitilnya, Peremoha, and Hostroluchcha, the enemy troops lost their offensive potential.
Enemy troops with forces up to two BTGs make unsuccessful attempts to keep the heroic Ukrainian cities of Sumy, Lebedyn and Okhtyrka surrounded.
In the Slobozhansky direction up to sixteen BTGs continue the offensive operation in the direction of Krasnohrad and part of the forces up to four BTGr on Izyum. The invader suffered losses and was stopped near the settlements of Bohodukhiv, Chuguiv, Shevchenkove.
In the Donetsk direction, without success, the aggressor focused on blocking the city of Mariupol.
In the Tavriya direction, the enemy continues its offensive operations in the areas of the settlements of Skadovsk, Hola Prystan, Kherson, Snihurivka, and Nova Kakhovka. After regrouping the enemy continues to move in the direction of Kherson and Mykolayiv. Up to two BTGr operates in the areas of settlements Vasylivka, Chervone Pole, Novopetrivka.
In the Black Sea Operational Zone, the enemy deploys a naval group and continues preparations for a naval landing operation.
Unsuccessful in advancing its forces, the enemy insidiously continues to launch missile and bomb strikes on critical infrastructure in order to intimidate the civilian population, which is courageously side by side with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The morale of the enemy and his will to win are rapidly declining due to the steady defence of our troops.
