Dans la collection Tank Craft, le douzième ouvrage de la série s’intéresse au 3-inch Gun Motor Carriage M10 Wolverine au sein des armées britanniques. A l’instar du Sherman Firefly, certains exemplaires reçoivent un canon plus performant donnant naissance au Self-Propelled 17pdr Achilles. Outre les toujours magnifiques profils couleurs et reproductions de maquettes montées et peintes (Italeri, Tamiya), cet ouvrage donne l’opportunité de découvrir ces engins et leur emploi en Europe à l’Ouest en 1944 et 1945.

Attention, toutes ces unités ne sont cependant pas équipées de Wolverine ou d’Achilles. D’ailleurs, certaines ne quittent jamais la Grande-Bretagne. Mais la liste donne une idée de l’organisation et de la répartition des régiments antichars britanniques dans la dernière année de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Un premier éclairage qui nécessite cependant encore un plus ample approfondissement pour parvenir au niveau de détail historiographique que possèdent certaines unités allemandes.
L’auteur consacre également trois pages sur les détails techniques de l’engin, en particulier la tourelle, la conversion en Achilles et la caisse. Les informations relatives à la suspension et à la motorisation se trouvent dans les livres Sherman Tanks, British Army and Royal Marines, Normandy Campaign 1944 et Sherman Tanks, US Army, North-Western Europe 1944-1945 déjà parus.
